Michael Root primarily focuses his practice on business and commercial litigation and corporate transactions. Mr. Root specializes in representing businesses in complex commercial disputes and provides strategic advice to clients on a wide range of business matters.

Prior to joining I&G, Mr. Root practiced no-fault insurance, auto negligence, personal injury and workers’ compensation defense. Mr. Root has also previously managed day- to-day business operations for a team within a global specialty finance company while ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance, the FDCPA, state, federal and CFPB regulations.

Mr. Root received his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School and Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University Chicago. While in law school, Mr. Root worked for the Free Legal Aid Clinic of Detroit, worked for an international firm in Mexico City, and was a visiting student at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law.

Mr. Root is licensed to practice in Michigan and is a member of the Oakland County Bar Association. He serves as a pro bono peer monitor for the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Program.
